At what age should children be allowed to have access to devices
I think the age children should be allowed to have devices should be either 14 or 15 when they first attend high school. I know that in high school it is critical to communicate with your peers and teachers to further advance your studies, to be honest it's more like it's mandatory. Without having a device that connects to the Internet, students will have a hard time to keep up with the curriculum now a days, even this blog requires me to have access to a device with Internet connection to perform well in this course. Another reason children should be 14+ to get devices is that they will become less active and more addicted to their devices. From personal experiences, I know that children will refuse to leave their devices to play outside. They are losing themselves in social media and other things. I barely see any kids outside nowadays compared to a couple years ago. Another negative factor of allowing children to have devices early on is that they can be targeted by one of the most dangerous things in the world, cyber bullying. A lot of children are affected by cyber bullying, and because they are so young, they won't know how to deal and cope with it. The only thing that they know how to do is accept whatever their told, and what they are told can very well be negative things like " nobody likes you" or "stay away from everybody". These are all things that children will learn to accept and they will think it's normal. This is why I think children should not have devices or social media accounts at an early age.
